Are you dressing for your undertone?!

Identifying your undertone is crucial in finding the best jewelry, foundation shade, highlight shade and overall colors to wear to make your beautiful skin glow! Who doesn't love glowing skin?!

I have identified that I have a warm undertone and because of this, I lean heavily towards gold jewelry, gold eyeshadow, gold highlight etc. Needless to say, I LOVE gold :) As far as clothes go, I have a deeper skin tone so I enjoy wearing yellow, red, olive, cream and coral to make my skin tone pop!

Check out my guide below on finding your undertone and crafting your look based on it!

Undertones

An undertone is the color from underneath the surface of your skin that affects your overall hue. There are three undertones - cool, warm, and olive/neutral.

Warm: If the base tone of your skin is yellow or gold, you have warm undertones.

Cool: If you see hints of blue, purple, pink or red, then you have cool undertones.

Neutral: If there's a mixture of both warm and cool hues, or your undertone is the same color as your actual skin color, then you fall into the neutral category

How do you find out what your undertone is?

  • One way is by the color of your veins. Take a look at our veins in natural light to decipher the color. If they appear more green in nature, you have more warm undertones. If they are bluish or purple in color, you have cool undertones.

  • Another trick is by placing a piece of jewelry against your skin. If gold is more flattering, you’re most likely a warm undertone, yet if you find that silver looks better on you, you’re more likely to have a cool undertone.
